Boston Politicians And The Problem Of Congestion

According to an article I read recently, Boston has the fourth worst traffic in the U.S. Statisticians say that it takes 4.25 times as long to reach a destination, which would ordinarily take 20 minutes to drive. (source: GeicoNow Fall/Winter edition, pg. 16). The study cited in this article was conducted in 2013 by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute which uses the Planning Time Index to compare drive times in heavy traffic (e.g. during rush hour) with drive times seen when the same roads are clear.  Continue reading…
