Language, Vehicle Size And Bicycle Advocacy

The other day a friend asked me about a motor vehicle accident I had been in a number of years ago. She had recently been in an major accident and wanted to know how I had handled the situation.

I was not the driver in the accident she was referring to, but rather a passenger in a car being driven by a family member. We were traveling through an intersection near our home when a car came out of nowhere, ran a red light and broadsided us.

Both cars were totaled and had to be replaced. Even though it was clear that the crash occurred due to the other car running through a red light, my family member was dragged into court by the other driver’s insurance company.
