Bicycle Racing As A Denial Of Aging

Most people who follow bicycle racing have heard by now about the story of a 62-year-old racer, David LeDuc, who was caught using performance enhancing drugs. A test he was given after the U.S. Masters National Road Championships this summer proved positive for three performance enhancing drugs: amphetamines, synthetic testosterone, and EPO.

According to the Raleigh News and Observer, when he received the news about the positive test from the USADA he said “don’t even waste your time testing the ‘B’ sample, I’m guilty. In response, they said, “Well, since you’re not going to contest it, we’ll give you the minimum penalty of two years.”  Continue reading ….
