A Case Of Wheel Truing Thumb

Those of you who don’t do your own bike maintenance may not be able to truly appreciate this post. But, you might want to read it anyway to get the flavor of what it is like to be a home bike mechanic.

As every cyclist knows, after you have ridden a bike for a while, the wheels start to get wobbly. Not everyone cares if their wheels are a bit wobbly, even though correcting this condition is considered to be part of routine bicycle maintenance.

In official bicycle parlance, tire wobbliness is known as a wheel out of true. A trued wheel is one that rolls straight without wobbling from side to side or looking “bumpy,” like it’s hopping up and down when you put the bike on a stand and spin it.    Continue reading ….
