Yesterday, as I was catching up on the latest news, I came across a bicycling article on NPR’s website. I wasn’t very familiar with the topic of this article, since it was something I haven’t been involved in myself. So I read it to learn something new.
The article was about people who were new to cycling and who wanted to use their bikes for commuting, but were afraid of things like getting hit by cars. That’s a reasonable fear. Driving in traffic can be daunting even for experienced cyclists.
To make it easier for newcomers to break into commuting organizations have sprung up to offer an alternative to riding to work alone. They call this alternative “bike trains,” a system of organizing cyclists to commute in groups.
