Efficient Driving Depends Upon The Skills Of Others

As so often happens, I was thinking about driving as I was stuck in traffic while driving my car. On this particular day, traffic was moving in fits and spasms.

For minutes at a time, we would all sit still, just waiting. I would peer around the truck in front of me trying to get a glimpse of the traffic light. Every time I looked, it was still red and the clock was ticking. I had to be somewhere on time.

Finally, the light turned green. I watched the cars ahead of me, waiting for them to move. I could see that there was no traffic lined up no the other side of the intersection. Nothing stood in the way of our moving forward. Yet, we stood still. Continue reading…
